Aftercare for your tattoo

Aftercare is crucial to ensure your tattoo heals properly and retains its quality. Please follow these instructions carefully:

  1. Immediately After Your Tattoo: Once your tattoo is completed, I will wrap it in clingfilm or a tattoo bandage to protect it.

  2. First Cleaning (3 Hours After Tattoo): After 3 hours, wash your hands thoroughly before removing the clingfilm or bandage. Wash your tattoo using a fragrance-free soap, gently removing all plasma and blood from the skin with clean hands. Do not use any sponges or loofahs on your tattoo.

Dry your tattoo with a kitchen roll—avoid using a towel.

  3. Avoid Wrapping After the First Three Hours: Do not wrap your tattoo in clingfilm again after the first three hours.

  4. Dry Healing (Day of and Day After Your Tattoo): On the day of your tattoo and the day after, you will dry heal. Wash your tattoo every 1–2 hours, but do not apply any cream until the night after your session.

If, due to work or other conditions, you’re unable to air dry and wash your tattoo the day after, please let me know during your session, and I’ll provide guidance.

  5. Nighttime Care (The Night After Your Tattoo): After the first day, before going to bed, you can begin applying a small amount of tattoo-specific cream, such as Hustle Butter. Use the minimum amount—your tattoo needs to breathe, so avoid over-applying.

Do not use bio oil, coconut oil, or Vaseline on your fresh tattoo, as these oils sit on the skin and do not moisturise effectively.

  6. Ongoing Care (For 4 Weeks): From the following day, continue to wash and apply cream to your tattoo twice a day for the next 4 weeks.

  7. Avoid Certain Activities (First 7-10 Days): For the first 7-10 days, avoid excessive alcohol consumption and any strenuous activities, including gym sessions, cardio, or any activities that may cause sweating or strain the tattooed area.

  8. Avoid Water Activities (First 4 Weeks): For the next 4 weeks, do not swim, use a sauna, jacuzzi, or hot showers (lukewarm showers are fine), and avoid baths. Also, avoid any activities that cause excessive sweating.

  9. Keep Your Tattoo Clean and Protected: During the first 4 weeks, always keep your tattoo clean and protect it from sun exposure and dust.

  10. Sun Protection: To ensure your tattoo looks amazing for years to come, always protect it from the sun by applying sunblock. Direct sun exposure can fade tattoos over time, preventing them from aging well.
